[2] For the week beginning on Monday the 12th of May
Curated by lead editor Deb – a slow, thoughtful mix of things listened to, watched, read, or revisited this week.
- ‘The cruel sister’ painting, made in 1862 by Scottish artist: John Faed. Based on a tragic Scottish ballad of the same name which tells the story of a woman who drowns her sister out of jealousy. A harp is made from the drowned sister’s remains and when played it reveals the truth of the murder.
- “Making money talk” by artist dan tague – transforming the United State’s currency into visual statements. Combines elements of origami, photography and activism. A favourite is “CASH RULES EVERYTHING AROUND ME”
- Fleabag – 2016- a British dark comedy-drama that follows a witty, emotionally raw, and often self-destructive woman navigating life, love, grief, and guilt in London. Keep this quote in mind, “It’ll pass.”
- The song Champagne Coast by Blood Orange on the piano.
- GTA VI trailer 2 – it gives a gritty look at Lucia and Jason in a chaotic, high-energy world. It’s fast, intense, and looks seriously good.
- Love Me – Elvis Presley
- Chanel campaign launched for Mother’s Day in 2020 titled “Draw Me A Perfume”
- Anthony Bourdain’s travels (you can find some of them on YouTube or in online articles), we read a great post from The Travel Tales who said: He didn’t just tell travel stories. He told human ones. The kind that tasted like home, even if you’d never been there.
- The Buccaneers – Bridgerton-esque, but totally brilliant in its own right. A group of loud, unapologetic American girls crash into the posh British scene and, of course, love follows—but it’s never as simple as you’d hope. Keep an eye on Lord Richard and Conchita (and yes, team Guy all the way).
And that’s it for this week’s recommendations, have you heard of any of these or have got any of your own recommendations. Share them with us, see you next week.
